A type of electrical service that is delivered to your home is from a electrical company that has the total capacity to measure the current in amps. The available capacity may seem to be infinite, but in fact, it is not. When you open electrical receptacles, you have to open the circuit, and this will deliver the current in the circuit. It is a lot like opening a valve, and you get the required number of gallons of oil to the engine. This current is sent into the house from all the electrical receptacles in your house. If you are using a multiple outlet configuration, the current will be delivered as much as possible from the first outlet into the next outlet.

When it reaches the breaker, the breaker (or circuits, in electrical speak) will trip. But you have to flip the position of the switches. When you do, the current will flow in the circuit again. This is how the breaker works. If the breaker trips often, this is what is causing the circuit.

If the circuit is faulty, the breaker will be turned on, and will deliver a large amount of current, and the breaker/circuit will be damaged. Most often, the breaker will be tripped because there is an overloaded circuit. It will be on a continuous basis. If you have a breaker that is on a constant basis, when you remove it, it is being reset. This is when you need to switch the positions of the switches. This is also why most electrical receptacles have a reset button.
